On April 22nd, the General Assembly of ENQA, the Association of Quality Assurance Agencies of the European Higher Education Area, held a virtual meeting. The ACPUA is a full member of the Association, so it participated in it and exercised its right to vote. Undoubtedly the three most important items on the agenda were those related to the elections to the Board of Directors of the entity. The Board is always renewed periodically on a partial basis, but on this occasion Christoph Grolimund (AAQ, Switzerland) was finishing his second term as President and Anne Fliermann was leaving the Board after leaving the presidency of the agency (NVAO, The Netherlands).
The results of the voting were as follows: Douglas Blackstock (QAA, UK) was elected as the new President of ENQA. Cristina Ghitulica (ARACIS, Romania) and François Pernot (HCERES, France) were re-elected as Board members and also continue as ENQA Vice-Presidents. Doris Herrmann (AQAS, Germany) and Jolanta Silka (AIC, Latvia) joined the Board.
In addition, ACPUA Director Antonio Serrano was elected Treasurer of ENQA by the new Board.
ACPUA warmly congratulates the Vice Presidents who have renewed their mandate, the new members of the Board and especially its new President, Douglas Blackstock, to whom it wishes much success at the head of the European Association of Agencies. Douglas knows well the ACPUA and Aragon, having traveled expressly to Zaragoza in December 2016 to give a lecture on "The quality of universities in the UK", within the ACPUA Seminars on university quality.
