ECA WINTER MEETING: European Consortium for Accreditation in Higher Education

13/12/2021

ACPUA attended the second semester ECA meeting, held last Monday, December 13th, 2021. ECA, currently composed by 16 members from 11 countries, is a European Consortium for accreditation in Higher education that aims to improve the mutual recognition of qualifications at international level, favoring transparency to give confidence to the student body.
This meeting focused on two main objectives. Firstly, the members of the new Board, formalized in June 2021, have briefly commented on the current state of the organization's activities, to focus on the joint design and planning of the new program 2022. Aspects such as the renewal of communication, the current economic status, working groups and training, among others, were discussed.
Secondly, Dagmar Provijn, representative of NVAO, an organization for higher education accreditation in Belgium, presented the development of the EUniQ project, a quality framework for European universities. Dagmar presented a pilot procedure consisting of 4 benchmarks and 5 phases. The University of Ljubljana in Slovenia participated in this first evaluation and its representative, Professor Tomaz Dezelam, presented the results of the functioning of EUTOPIA Alliance, which is a learning and research community carried out with 10 European universities, within the framework of the Erasmus+ program.
At the end, a discussion was held among the participants on the doubts and suggestions of the current state of these international evaluations, which are not without difficulties.
