ACPUA's participation in UNITA WEEK

11/03/2026

ACPUA continues to collaborate with the University of Zaragoza and 11 other universities on their European University Alliance project called UNITA. This time, it met online at the Quality Evaluation Committee (QEB) meeting, which was also taking place in Guarda (Portugal).

The aim of the meeting is to advance the internal quality management of the alliance, while the role of the agencies included in the Committee is to advise on this new challenge to improve external evaluation, which is being carried out in parallel in Guarda and is led by the Romanian University Quality Agency, ARACIS.

The participation of the Quality Agencies in this second phase of UNITA is both a novelty and a challenge. Currently, the Portuguese agency (A3ES) holds the vice-presidency of the working group of agencies in which we also actively participate, along with another Spanish agency (ANECA), the Italian agency (ANVUR) and ourselves, as the Aragonese agency (ACPUA).

The topics discussed focused mainly on continuing quality work for the future, such as the preparation of self-assessment reports, improving communications, monitoring the tasks of each specific group, and the schedule for future meetings.

As a full member of ENQA and of the most important global and European networks on quality assurance (EQAR, INQAAHE, ECA) and having carried out international reviews within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), ACPUA is involved in the opportunity to participate in the UNITA project because the development of a European framework for the overall quality assurance of European universities is an important challenge that quality assurance agencies must face.  To this end, ACPUA offers its previous experience in actively supporting the construction of the UNITA Alliance's internal quality system.
