ACPUA participates in the first online meeting of the year of the European UNITA Alliance from the Quality Assessment Committee, with which it has been collaborating for more than three years. ACPUA offers its previous experience in actively supporting the construction of the UNITA Alliance's internal quality system and advice on external evaluation. Since last year, the role of the group of agencies has been strengthened and a strategy has been designed to make contributions more effective.
In this project, ACPUA has been an associate member of the University of Zaragoza since 2020, along with 11 other universities. The fundamental purpose of the alliance (funded by the European Commission) is to lay the foundations for a truly European university that contributes to the educational, scientific and cultural progress of its regions, promotes their sustainable development, strengthens local innovation ecosystems and supports their transition to a knowledge-based economy, while promoting and accelerating European integration within and outside them.
As the official Quality Agency of Aragon (Spain), ACPUA is the main player in external quality assurance for higher education in the region. ACPUA's mission is therefore to ensure and promote the quality of the Aragonese higher education system, but also to develop useful links between the university, socio-productive areas, institutional decision-making bodies and society, and to promote exchanges of experience with other systems and other levels of education.
As a full member of ENQA and of the most important global and European networks on quality assurance (INQAAHE, EQAR, ECA) and having carried out international reviews within the European Higher Education Area (EHEA), ACPUA continues to be involved in the UNITA project because the development of a European framework for the overall quality assurance of European universities remains an important challenge.
