What is it?
This programme evaluates international joint programmes delivered by universities and higher education institutions from different countries, in accordance with the European Approach for Quality Assurance of Joint Programmes, adopted within the framework of the European Higher Education Area (EHEA).
The programme applies to both:
- New joint programmes (ex-ante evaluation), where the assessment focuses on the programme’s potential quality before its implementation.
- Established joint programmes (ex-post evaluation), where the assessment focuses on the programme’s actual quality, based on evidence of its operation and results.
What is its purpose?
The purpose of this programme is to evaluate the academic and organisational quality of international joint programmes, contributing to their recognition within the European Higher Education Area and promoting the continuous enhancement of programmes delivered through international cooperation.
In addition, the programme facilitates the implementation of the European Approach, avoiding multiple evaluations of the same joint programme by different national quality assurance agencies.
How is it assessed?
Assessment is carried out in accordance with the standards established in the European Approach for Quality Assurance of Joint Programmes, grouped into nine areas:

- Study programme
- Admission and recognition
- Learning, teaching and assessment
- Student support
- Resources
- Transparency and public information
- Quality assurance
The evaluation is conducted by an international review panel, whose report is subsequently examined by the Degree Programme Assessment Subcommittee (SET), which is responsible for issuing the final assessment report.
Recognition of evaluations carried out by other EQAR agencies
Aragonese universities participating in international joint programmes that have been evaluated by another agency registered in the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR) may request ACPUA to recognise such evaluations, in accordance with the procedure established by the Agency.
