Professor of Microbiology at the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Zaragoza and in the Microbiology Service of the Miguel Servet Hospital. Member of the Advisory Committee of Tuberculosis Vaccine Initiative (TBVI), he is a worldwide renowned scientific authority in the field of building new TB vaccines. He was a permanent researcher at the Institut Pasteur in Paris, where in collaboration with Prof. Brigitte Gicquel he built MTBVAC, the first vaccine against this disease developed in the laboratory. He is member of CIBERES and the Royal Academy of Medicine of Zaragoza, among many other agencies and networks.
