It is with great regret that we communicate the untimely death of Prof. Cosimo Cascione, a member of ACPUA since 2020, as an international Vocal Member of our Guarantees Committee.
At the early age of 55 years and unexpectedly, the Professor of History of Roman Law and History of the Roman Constitution at the Università degli Studi di Napoli Federico II, left us last December.
Reputed legal historian, jurist, learned and kind man, Professor Cascione, Researcher at the Department of Roman Law and History of Law of the Romanistic Science “Francesco De Martino” was Director of the journal Index, International Study of Roman Law, Quaderni camerti di studi romanistici and the Interdepartmental Center V. Arangio-Ruiz, from 2018 to 2023. He was, at the same University, Coordinator of the PhD course in “Human Rights. History, Theory and Praxis”, collaborating also with universities around the world such as Chile, Wuham and Berlin among others.
In 2022, the Accademia dei Lincei awarded him the “Antonio Feltrinelli” Prize for Legal Sciences.
