The Aragon Agency for University Quality and Foresight Assurance(ACPUA) held another ordinary meeting of its Governing Council today. The meeting was chaired by Ms Carmen Mª Susín Gabarre, Minister for Education, Science and Universities of the Government of Aragon, and was attended by key representatives from the region’s government, universities, business sector and trade unions.
During the session, various strategic issues aimed at ensuring the continuous improvement and evaluation of the higher education system in Aragón were discussed and approved.
Key points of the session and main agreements: Renewal of the membership of the ACPUA Committee of Experts.
Financial and institutional matters: The minutes of the previous meeting held on 9 April 2026 were approved, and the June agreement approving the agency’s annual accounts for the 2025 financial year was ratified.
Future budget: The Council processed the approval of the ACPUA’s draft budget for 2027.
Cooperation with San Jorge University: The collaboration agreement with San Jorge University to carry out the evaluation of the teaching activity of its Teaching and Research Staff (PDI) has been given the green light.
Regional partnerships: Those present were informed of the extension of the management agreement with the University of Cantabria for the assessment of the merits of its Teaching and Research Staff (PDI).
The partial renewal of the members of the Agency’s Committee of Experts was undertaken at this Council meeting.
ACPUA sincerely thanks Ms Fiona Crozier, Mr Carlos Montañés and Mr Máximo Valenciano for their collaboration over recent years; they have contributed actively and with great enthusiasm, drawing on their respective areas of expertise, to the achievement of the Agency’s objectives.
ACPUA would like to welcome the new members of the Committee, who will bring with them their extensive experience in university quality procedures and standards at both national and international levels.
The appointments will be made in the coming days and published on the ACPUA website as well as in the Official Gazette of Aragón, in accordance with the requirements for publicity and transparency set out in current legislation.
Changes to the composition of the Governing Council
The meeting also served to formally welcome Mr Javier García Bernal (lecturer in the Department of Business Management and Organisation at the University of Zaragoza), who joins as the representative of the UGT trade union, replacing Ms Josefina Jiménez Villar, a member of the body since 2015.
The Agency would like to thank Ms Josefina Jiménez for her service as a member of the Governing Council over the past 11 years; it has been an honour to have her active participation in all meetings of ACPUA’s governing body.
Following this meeting, ACPUA has consolidated its technical and budgetary roadmap, strengthening its evaluation tools and its collaborative links with academic institutions both within and outside Aragón.
