Follow Up

About

The Study Programme Follow-up is the external evaluation process through which ACPUA assesses the proper implementation and development of official study programmes offered by centres that are not institutionally accredited, based on the analysis of the internal monitoring reports prepared by universities within the framework of their Internal Quality Assurance Systems.

This process makes it possible to review the degree of compliance with the commitments set out in the verified study programme description, as well as with the recommendations and special attention items arising from previous evaluations.

Objective

The aim of  Study Programme Follow-up is to accompany degree programmes in their consolidation process, strengthen continuous improvement and facilitate the early detection of potential deviations or relevant risks, thereby contributing to:

  • The proper implementation of the study programme in accordance with the verified programme description and any subsequent modifications.
  • The monitoring of improvement actions undertaken by the university.
  • The consolidation and enhancement of the degree programme’s Internal Quality Assurance System.
  • Accountability and transparency of public information on the degree programme.
  • Reducing uncertainty in view of the renewal of accreditation.

Assessment

External monitoring is based on the assessment of the internal monitoring reports of degree programmes, as well as the available public information and previous external reports (verification, modification, monitoring or accreditation).

The Programmes Evaluation Committee (SET) is the body responsible for carrying out the assessment and issuing the monitoring reports.
This process does not involve a new comprehensive evaluation of the programme; instead, it focuses on:

  • The level of compliance with recommendations and improvement plans.
  • The special attention items identified in previous evaluations.
  • The early detection of potential deviations or significant non-compliance.

Where appropriate, and on an exceptional basis, the SET may propose reinforced monitoring actions, including the involvement of external experts or the organisation of a site visit to the degree programme.
