As part of the inter-institutional collaboration between the Complutense University and San Jorge University, the Director of ACPUA, Cristina Rodríguez Coarasa, took part in two sessions of the summer course “Redesigning the University: Artificial Intelligence (AI), Dual Learning and Micro-credentials of the Future”, held on 16 and 17 July 2026 at the San Jorge University in Zaragoza.
The event brought together academic leaders, specialists in university quality and experts in educational innovation to reflect on the main challenges and trends that are transforming higher education. The course addressed issues of particular relevance to universities, such as the strategic integration of artificial intelligence into higher education, the development of dual learning models, the promotion of micro-credentials, internationalisation models and the evolution of quality assurance systems. All of this was approached from a strategic perspective aimed at facilitating the adaptation of higher education institutions to an increasingly dynamic and global environment.
On the opening day, Cristina Rodríguez Coarasa took part in the round-table discussion ‘University quality in Spain: developments and trends’, which analysed the current meaning of quality in higher education, evaluation mechanisms and the prospects for the evolution of quality assurance systems in the face of new scenarios of transformation in higher education. The session also featured Federico Morán, Director of the Madri+d Foundation.
Furthermore, the Director of ACPUA took part on the second day in the round-table discussion “Institutional accreditation: governance, quality and strategic positioning”, which focused on the role of institutional accreditation as a tool for the continuous improvement of university quality, the strengthening of university autonomy and the international profile of higher education institutions. At this round table, she shared experiences and reflections with Mercé Gisbert Cervera, Director of AQU Catalonia, and Federico Morán.
ACPUA’s participation in this conference reinforces the Agency’s commitment to promoting university quality and to the debate on the challenges facing higher education institutions in a context characterised by digital transformation, educational innovation and adaptation to new learning models.
