QA in the EHEA



As the main objective of the Bologna Process, the European Higher Education Area (EHEA) was meant to ensure more comparable, compatible and coherent systems of higher education in Europe. The  EHEA was launched in March 2010, during the Budapest-Vienna Ministerial Conference. During the first decade, the main efforts were targeted to creating the European Higher Education Area, that became reality with the Budapest-Vienna Declaration of March, 2010. Currently, the main goal isconsolidating the EHEA and thus the current EHEA permanent website will play a key role in this process of intense internal and external communication.

The European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA) is an umbrella organisation which represents quality assurance organisations from the EHEA member states. The goal of ENQA is to promote European co-operation in the field of quality assurance in higher education and disseminate information and expertise among its members and towards stakeholders in order to develop and share good practice and to foster the European dimension of quality assurance. ACPUA is since 2013 an affiliate of the European Association for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (ENQA). All our review procedures and activity follows the European Standard and Guidelines published by ENQA.

The Standards and Guidelines for Quality Assurance in the European Higher Education Area (ESG) have been produced by ENQA, in co-operation and consultation with its member agencies and the E4 Group (ENQA, EUA, EURASHE and ESU). The ESG are designed to be applicable to all higher education institutions and quality assurance agencies in Europe, irrespective of their structure, function and size, and the national system in which they are located.
